This is a weblog about sovereign insolvency: when sovereign states cannot pay their debts as they come due. Its aims include:

  • To capture the bulk of knowledge on the topic of sovereign insolvency, either directly or by reference, with a view to creating a centralized resource to turn to;
  • Record for posterity events in the sovereign insolvency arena as they transpire; and
  • Provide a medium for publicizing potentially valuable hypotheses.

The topic sovereign insolvency is vast. It covers legal topics as well as political, economic, social, philosophical, and procedural aspects of society. How insolvent states treat and are treated by creditors affects the world’s people, environment, governments, corporations, investment funds. It is a complex topic of great importance.
